In remote communities, transport can be a significant barrier to employment. Long distances and limited public transport can make it difficult to access training, travel to work or take up a job opportunity.
That was an important part of Levi-Sam’s journey with TRACQS. Over the past 12 months, he’s completed his driving lessons through the TRACQS Driving Program and passed his test on his first attempt. At the same time, his participation in the Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) program led to a Yard Maintenance role with MaraWay, where he’s now been working for more than six months.

While working towards his licence, Levi-Sam was also engaged with the RJED program. RJED supports job seekers in remote communities to build practical skills and move into secure, fairly paid employment designed in partnership with those communities and First Nations people. The focus is on real employment, not just readiness.
The TRACQS Driving Program supports that goal by helping participants overcome transport barriers that can otherwise limit their ability to take up work. Together, the two programs supported different parts of Levi-Sam’s pathway into employment.
Through RJED, Levi-Sam secured a Yard Maintenance role with MaraWay, an organisation that works to build skills, employment pathways and stronger communities through Indigenous-led values.
More than six months into the role, Levi-Sam continues to receive strong feedback from MaraWay. He’s been described as reliable, hardworking and willing to go beyond his own duties to support his teammates.

Levi-Sam’s progress reflects the purpose of both the TRACQS Driving Program and RJED. While the Driving Program helped him gain greater independence, RJED connected him with an employment opportunity where he’s continued to grow and prove himself.
His achievement is also a credit to the effort he’s put in over the past year, from completing his driving lessons and passing his test to establishing himself as a valued member of the MaraWay team.
At TRACQS, we’re proud to support participants as they work towards their goals, and we congratulate Levi-Sam on everything he’s achieved so far.
