In the lead up to Christmas, TRACQS was proud to once again partner with Mareeba Shire Council to support the 2025 Mayor’s Christmas Appeal, continuing a shared commitment to supporting local people during the festive season.

Launched by Mayor Angela Toppin, the annual appeal brings together local businesses, community organisations and service providers to help individuals and families across the Mareeba Shire who are experiencing hardship at what can be a particularly expensive and stressful time of year. The appeal plays an important role in strengthening community connections and ensuring support reaches those who need it most.

Each year, Mareeba Shire Council entrusts TRACQS with funds to distribute directly to participants in need over the Christmas period. This approach reflects what TRACQS aims to deliver every day: practical, respectful employment and career support that makes a real difference for people, families and communities across the region.

For the 2025 appeal, support was provided through $50 gift cards to help ease the cost of everyday essentials such as groceries, fuel or household items. To ensure the process was fair, transparent and impartial, TRACQS conducted a random selection from a group of eligible job seekers living in Dimbulah and surrounding areas. The group included people experiencing a range of financial pressures, employment barriers and personal circumstances, for whom even a small boost could make a meaningful difference during the festive season.

On 10 December, TRACQS Career Transition Coaches contacted the selected recipients to let them know they’d been chosen as part of the appeal. For participants who weren’t able to visit the TRACQS Dimbulah office due to mobility limitations or other barriers, the team arranged delivery and personally dropped the gift cards to their homes, ensuring no one missed out on support.

The gesture was warmly received, with many participants expressing heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the support they received.

TRACQS is proud to play a role in the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal alongside Mareeba Shire Council, showing up locally, strengthening community connections, and helping ensure support reaches people when they need it most.
