Description     BLACK CROC Portrait

The ‘Black Croc’ is a favourite image of mine – the photo is of an exceptionally dark Saltwater Crocodile that I spotted surfacing just on dusk.  Sitting, out of harm’s way, on the bank of a North Qld river, he had obviously spotted me long before I spotted him. I was nervously safe but still startled as I watched him slowly and silently emerge from the depths. The iconic ‘Salty’ is a living dinosaur and the apex predator of our northern Australian rivers, billabongs and oceans.
