TRACQS is proud to announce that our participants have commenced a Soft Skills Bootcamp, as part of the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program, on Tuesday 24 June. Delivered by TAFE Queensland, this eight-week program in Kuranda is designed to strengthen essential foundational skills. Key areas of focus include basic language, literacy and numeracy support, professional behaviour in both workplace and classroom settings, and an understanding of best practice expectations.

Participants are also building their digital proficiency through targeted training in the Microsoft Office suite, email etiquette, phone communication, and effective interpersonal techniques. The program further supports personal development through confidence-building and communication strategies.

TRACQS is especially pleased to welcome TAFE educator Debra Stoter as the program facilitator. Debra is a respected local First Nations community member and brings valuable cultural insight and expertise to the delivery of this program.
“Participants have shown marked improvement in basic numeracy and literacy skills, essential for everyday tasks and employment opportunities. Hands-on training with computers and other digital devices has increased participants’ confidence in using technology. Group activities and peer support have played a crucial role in building a sense of community and belonging. Recently, we attended our local NAIDOC celebrations, where students actively participated in various events. This provided an excellent opportunity for them to apply their learning. Students took notes and photos and will complete a written and oral presentation to the class.”
– Debra, TAFE Queensland Educator
The Skills for Education and Employment program is creating valuable opportunities for participants to build practical skills in a supportive, culturally informed environment. By combining hands-on learning with community engagement, it is helping individuals prepare for future study, employment and everyday life with greater confidence and capability.

The program will conclude in mid-August, with students receiving a certificate that includes their completed units of competency. TRACQS is pleased to have partnered with TAFE Queensland to deliver this opportunity locally in Kuranda, removing the need for participants to travel.
