TRACQS is proud to continue guiding clients towards meaningful career pathways — including the opportunity to serve with the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Through a strong and growing partnership with the ADF’s Indigenous Specialist Recruitment Team, TRACQS is helping create new possibilities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers across the region.
A powerful example of this ongoing collaboration took place in March, when two young Indigenous clients, Rayziah and Donald, journeyed from their community to Cairns to attend an ADF Recruitment Careers Presentation. Accompanied by TRACQS Job Placement Officer Dianne Long and Indigenous Liaison Officer Lillian Simpson, the pair took part in an inspiring session that brought ADF career options to life.
The event, delivered by the ADF’s Indigenous Specialist Recruitment Team and led locally by Warrant Officer Jerry Savage, offered a comprehensive overview of the many roles available within the Navy, Army and Air Force. More importantly, it highlighted the strong support provided to Indigenous recruits — from pre-employment programs and cultural mentoring to career development and long-term retention strategies.
“It was great to see a balance of employment, schools and school-based programs attend. The Indigenous Specialist Recruitment Team are positioned around Australia at all ADF Careers Centres. Our role and function are to engage with local and remote community and Elders; promote job opportunities and pathway initiatives.”

This commitment and partnership has already seen success, with a young person supported by TRACQS enlisting as a full-time Army recruit in February 2025 — a proud milestone for both the individual and the program. TRACQS will continue to encourage job seekers to consider a career in the ADF, recognising the valuable opportunities it offers for skills development and long-term employment.
By nurturing strong connections and maintaining a focus on community needs, TRACQS and the ADF’s Indigenous Specialist Recruitment Team are creating lasting pathways for Indigenous job seekers to build rewarding and sustainable careers in defence.
