During the COVID-19 Pandemic, TRACQS identified that there were a shortage and demand for employees in Aged Care and Individual Support workers to meet the local labour market needs.

To help combat the challenging times COVID-19 placed on our community, and to also give our participants the chance to study and find meaningful work; we proudly partnered with MyPath Education to enrol 14 of our ambitious participants, to complete a Certificate III in Individual Support.

Being a care worker is a highly rewarding occupation, which means spending time giving back to people and providing ageing support and personal care for those who may struggle to do so themselves.

For participants Kerry and Peter, completing this course is close to their hearts, as it allows them to care for their loved ones, who require additional support.

“We have a connection with a range of friends and family who require individual support in the area of age care and disability support, and we hope to gain skills that will help us better support these folks.

Our participants have opted for on-site, face to face training, which allows them to receive personal assistance, eliminating the cost of travel and accommodation, and providing a sense of teamwork, as they all complete the course together as a class.

“We have both really enjoyed the materials that have been presented so far, and the warm and friendly welcome we have received from our course facilitator and fellow students,” mentioned Kerry.

A Certificate III in Individual Support can open doors to a variety of meaningful careers in residential aged care, community care, disability care, and community-based organisations and hospitals.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be qualified for roles such as a Nursing Assistant, Personal Care Assistant, Lifestyle Support Worker or Direct Care Worker.

TRACQS participant Tracy is also happily enrolled and is enjoying the new career pathway.

“This is an awesome opportunity, thank you TRACQS! This takes me in another direction; something other than cleaning, and this gives me hope for the future. My age is no barrier and the prospect of Employment in a satisfying role is fantastic,”

TRACQS participant, Tracy.

Well done to the participants undertaking the Certificate III in individual support. We wish them the best of luck with their studies, and we’re looking forward to seeing them blossom in their chosen fields after graduation.
