Hollywood has come to Far North Queensland in the form of an upcoming Netflix series.

The series entitled Irreverent follows an American crook who botches a heist and is forced to hide out in Far North Queensland posing as a church Reverend.

The TRACQS team were quick to organise auditions for job seekers Darnce and Georgina to work as extras and actors in the 10-part series, based at nearby Mission Beach.

The TRACQS crew helped the job seekers prepare for auditions, sourced fuel vouchers, and provided support to attend shoot days. Staff also encouraged the participants to engage in the experience to broaden their career and employment prospects.

“It has been an eye-opener for me to experience and meet exciting actors who have graced our screens and to meet them in person.

“It’s been a privilege to work with the cast and directors who have been friendly and welcoming towards us.

“I can’t wait to see it on Netflix,” said Darnce.

For Georgina, she was glad for the encouragement to do something outside of her comfort zone.

“It is an amazing experience to be a part of and a fabulous cast who are friendly, warm and welcoming,” she shared.

TRACQS activity supervisors and managers were also drawn into the process, with TRACQS staff members Walter, Lance, Rosalie, Jason, Wally and his daughter Chloe engaging in acting scenes with some of Australia’s leading actors.

“Filming is a first for me, to be a part of and engage with actors and directors has been an experience that I will cherish.

“To see what really goes on behind the scenes has been an eye-opener for me.

“It’s been an honour to work with Australian actors, and it has given me an insight on what it takes to be an actor and may lead me into this field of work someday,” Chloe shared.

Irreverent is set to screen on Netflix in 2022.
